Happy Tails

Tilly aka Canela
We said we would have Tilly's story and why we have her.
First pure breed dogs have their own health issues, making them susceptible to immune issues. Tilly had demodex mange that went untreated and became a severe skin infection. Her owners put motor oil on her to kill the mites, but her mites were not contagious. Motor oil is toxic to any living being. She was brought into the Hancock Park Veterinary Clinic to be euthanized. But they refused to do it and had the owner relinquish her to the clinic. She then began her healing and new life. She was treated for 2 months and loved by everyone there. She was ready to go to a foster or rescue to continue her healing and find a forever home.

We got a email and a detail description of how she came to the clinic. Isn't it wonderful that there are still vets like Dr White who really care about the animals and a staff that loves them too. She was so well taken care of and I know it was hard to let her go.

Canela is now in our care, settled in to her foster home. We made sure she is very, very close to us since she needs baths for her skin and especially her feet. Poor thing, how did she ever walk with her feet so swollen. They are of course better now but still a little swollen but healing. She looks better everyday.

She is 2 years old, good with other dogs, cats, and kids. Canela is already house trained. Not to long ago her hips were x rayed at the clinic and they are good. She is the perfect big dog!
Katy aka Kit Kat was relinquished to a non profit vet clinic. we were asked if we could take her in , she was a neglect case. She was left out side to fend for herself, developed eye infections and ended up losing her sight. Katy had eyes, ears, and skin issues. She is doing much better and looks so much better. She must of had to look for food to eat because she may be blind but she can find a trash can very quickly to climb in, knock down to get a meal.

Remember Katy? We have been through a lot with her healing and hoping she will get her forever home. Well our little sweetie has been in her forever home for a couple weeks. She has brought love into her new moms heart and she is being spoiled as she so deserves. Katy loves laying in the sun so every morning she lays in her chair with mom as she sips her morning coffee.

Minddie
We got a call from the shelter if we could take in a paralyzed mixed beagle/chi.
There was no rescue interested in her so we said yes, it would be nice to have a girl in the group. The boys out number the girls. When we picked her up the shelter thought she was starting to walk. We took her to the vets with the x rays they gave us. She had a disc that was injured. she is walking very well now.  A nice surprise we didn't have to get a wheelchair.
