Rescue Updates

Feb.9,2011
Yesterday I spent the afternoon picking up a pom from the shelter. A email was circulated to rescues with a list of dogs in the medical ward and they needed to be adopted or taken out by rescues soon.
we offered to take a pom with one eye that was removed and a blind small 14 yr old terrier mix. Another rescue got the blind out and we got the pom.
She is very sweet and in a few days we have to take her to our vet to have the stitches removed. she needs a bath but stitches have to come out first. Looks like she was in heat and picked up as a stray.
she will be on the website soon. We also need to name her.

April 26

Our cute one eyed Pom Pinky Winky aka by new name Kaytee has a new forever home with a wonderful couple. She is a lucky girl.

We have  a few new arrivals. ivy a 10 yr old female chihuahua she was found by someone and was in terrible condition. The lady took her to the vet but did not want to keep her so she is with us. Tomorrow we get another chihuahua found on the streets by another shelter but they are like all rescues to many dogs so we will take him .

One thing about rescuers we all work together to save lives. The Devore shelter is full and euthanizing to many dogs and cats beause of over flow. Rescuers up there are trying to save as many as they can. We took a last  minute plea for a cairn terrier with a injurd leg.We said yes  2 hrs before she was euthanized. We couldn’t get there to pull her another rescuer took her out, another paid her pull fee. Next day she as taken to get spayed by a rescuer and a rescue transport service will be picking her up to drive her to Torrance to our vet to have her leg looked at. Donors were called to pay to get her out. All these people some I will never meet and some will become friends help to save this little dog because someone saw something special in this little dirty broken dog. And I promise you in 3 months she will be a shiny new dog on her way to a well deserved new life. Sometimes it is all worth the expense, time, heartache to rescue.
