Tonight the cats got a cooked fish treat. As I pulled the fish apart and put it down for the cats I felt so good to see Raisin and Journey joined in on the feast. How safe they must feel. Raisin is about 5 months old and he was living under a house when he was 8 weeks old. he was dragging his rear legs that was probably grabbed by a animal. We were able to catch him and take him to the vet. After x rays our vet said they could not find any damage and give him time to gain his strength back in his rear legs. And that is what happend, he runs, jumps, climbs and plays . He has complete mobility back in his rear legs and is a happy boy. He has come a long way from that frightened kitten, now a purring loving boy.
Journey was thrown into our shop and the man ran away. She was so frightened it took weeks before she would let us pet her and she always ended our pets with a swat to our hands. She started to throw up so we took her to the vet and we were told she was a case of abuse. Someone had kicked her with such force her intestines moved and she had 2 hernia’s. She had to have reconstructive surgeries, back to back. we waited patiently for her to trust us. And the waiting paid off. She likes her pets and has made friends with Raisin and our 2 handicap kitties Ilean and Peggy Sue. She too has a look of feeling safe in her face. It is such a good feeling to see these 2 kitties happy and knowing they will always be safe with us and maybe they may get a forever home that will love and protect them.

Tonight we took Pinky Winky the pom who lost her eye to her new adopted home. I left her with a lovely couple, Theresa and Curtis. This is so routine for us, doing a home check, filling out the contract and leaving the dog or cat behind knowing they will forget you soon and only love their new family. Tonight was different, it felt like one of those rare perfect matches. And oh so much love filled the air in this home.I left with my little friend barking wondering why I was not taking her but I know she will soon realize how very lucky she is because she was in her forever home.
As I drove home tired, knowing it was late and dinner would be cold,it didn’t matter because tonight made it all better. Tonight is for the dogs and cats on death row, abandoned in foreclosure homes, beaten, abused, injured, living on the streets, may they all get forever homes.
