How to help
Volunteer
Dharma Rescue for Cats and Dogs relies on volunteers and fosters exclusively.
We are always looking for foster homes for our rescue cats, and dogs. A fence yard is required to be a foster home for dogs. We require that foster dogs live inside your house.
Volunteers and fosters are immense valuable to our organization.
You would be responsible for feeding them, keeping them safe, clean, and helping them learn to be good pets.
We may ask you to take them to our local veterinarians for care, but we pay all vet expenses for our rescue animals, including food and supplies.
You can make a difference in the lives of animals, when you give animals the gift of your time, you will get back as much as you give – maybe even more.
There are many ways you can help right where you are:
- Foster
- Adoption events: socializing, walking & matching adopters with the right pet.
- Assisting with a fund-raising event, and special projects as needed.
- Setting up adoption booth, and assisting visitors.
- Transporting pets from fosters to vet office, or adoption events.
- Clean up kennels, provide direct care for pets aka petting, grooming, bathing, bottle feeding kittens, and puppies.
- Take pictures of our animals for Petfinder, and create educational posters, displays and campaigns.
Sponsor
All of our dogs could use sponsors, especially our senior, medical challenged animals; that will be with us for the long time before they can find homes. There are not many adopters who will adopt old, black, medical challenged dogs, or cats. You can sponsor a dog, or cat for $10 to $25 per month, which helps defray our costs.
One of our goals is to have a wellness center for the rescues that are old and ill, and to continue educating alternative care. In order for this goal to materialize, we are in need of sizeable monetary donations, and/or a facility donation preferably in the South Bay area.
We are also in need of donations, sponsors and volunteers to help care for the animals. Please visit our Donations page to see more information about how you can help donate to our organization.
